Hi - I like to keep multi disc albums SEPARATE so don’t want them merged into a single album in PLEX. This has worked fine for well over a year since I started using plex
These are all flac files and to enable this to work the title in the album tag has (CD1), (CD2), (CD3) etc after the title. Also total discs and disc number are populated correctly
Last week I ripped 7 multi disc CDs. Some of them are showing correctly (ie as separate discs) but others are merging. They have all been ripped with the same naming convention and there is a separate folder under the album name with CD1, CD2 etc. There appears to be no pattern either. Some of them are being merged under “album title (CD2)”; for another plex has chosen “album title (CD3)”. Just to stress each CD has a different title to reflect the CD number.
I have tried refreshing metadata. That does not work. I tried editing the title manually. That works temporarily but gives me the image of the artist rather than the album cover which is embedded in the flac file. When I refresh metadata on this to try and pick up the correct album image it reverts to being merged with one of the other CDs.
Last week I ripped 3 albums that each had 2 CDs and 4 albums that each had 4 CDs:
2 of the 2 CD albums are showing in plex correctly (i.e. separately); the third one is merged into 1
1 of the 3 CD albums is showing separately, 2 are fully merged into a single album and the other one is showing as 3 albums with CDs 3 and 4 having been merged into 1 !!!
Any ideas what could be causing this please. I wonder if its a bug in latest version of plex
