PLEX is no longer playing

Hello!

I am in despair.

PLEX no longer plays via SONOS.

The albums are displayed. When playing two ‘damage images’:

Either the message ‘Unfortunately an error has occurred’. Unfortunately I don’t know which one. And yes, I’m sorry too
or the tracks are displayed in fast-forward without playing any sound.
What do I or can I do here?

By the way: the PLEX app plays the tracks on the same network with the same mobile that controls SONOS without any problems

Thank you very much.

Is there a limit to the number of folders in a directory?

I have divided my music collection into four folders. Three with little content, one with a lot.

Only the large one - I have now noticed - is not played or the aforementioned error message is displayed.

Thank you.

There is no limit in Linux.

Windows seems to have a functional limit about 20,000
Linux, because of its directory structure, easily goes much higher before you see any performance issue.

If your device has limits then PMS won’t know about that at the server level.
If it’s a specific app, please let me know and I’ll forward the details (and server & player logs) to the developers

It’s via SONOS App.
The small directories play.
The big one not.

All the albums are shown. When trying to play i get this error message (“Playing XYZ not possible - Connection to PLEX disconnected”):
Bildschirmfoto 2024-08-22 um 23.46.13

I send you the log: Dropbox - Plex Media Server Logs_2024-08-22_20-26-50.zip - Simplify your life
Thanks a lot.

Does this apply?

Sonos is limited to 65000 tracks.

Also, want to let you know, there were a few times when PMS couldn’t get an internet connection

Aug 22, 2024 12:22:43.676 [2992029072] DEBUG - [EventSourceClient/pubsub/172.104.133.220:443] MyPlex: We appear to have lost Internet connectivity, resetting device URL cache.

While I’m sure you know, the CE5335 is very old. I don’t know how much longer it’ll be viable. There might be a point in the near future where you pick a point and stop upgrading PMS due to how Plex continues to grow and demand more of the CPU

Thanks a lot.
Yes. I moved it to an old Synology which only has access ot the slow DSL. Otherwise the Doble NAT with a combined router (DSL and LTE) is a problem. As soon we get fibre (end 2025) I will go back to a much newer and quicker NAS.

If I understand it correctly: can I divide the big folder into two and combine them back in PLEX? Would that work?

Is thie really the limitation of SONOS? The PLEX service comes - according SONOS Support - fomr PLEX. No chance to get it work?

Does this limitation really apply to PLEX which is a server application. So the database is not kept by SONOS.
