It seems that every so often plex will be unable to connect to app.plex.tv. I’ll restart the service and 15-20 mins later its back to being unable to connect. Now, it usually only happens in the evening and during the day it is fine. When I updated to 1.23 is when I kept running into these issues.

Server is running Ubuntu 20.04 LTS upto date:

Static IP: 192.168.15.197
DNS is using 8.8.8.8
Port forwarding is correct.

It happened again…This time Tautulli timed out at 2021-05-02 14:12:30

I went to localhost:32400/web and it almost didn’t load. It look alot of time to load the initial page.

I’m trying to determine if this is something wrong with my Ubuntu install or something wrong with Plex

Looking at your logs is a disaster.

Not certain if you’ve run out of space somewhere
(transcode requests are getting “404” - not found - responses from an android device)

Is PMS downloaded from the Ubuntu store or from plex.tv/downloads ?

plex.tv/downloads

I do manual updates. Thank you for looking at these. Really appreciate it!!!

Let’s try this.

You stop Plex.
I’ll wait a minute then reset your certificate even though it looks ok.
You can then start Plex

Question: Do you have your own domain cert involved? I didn’t see one.

No domain cert. Stopping Plex

You have to instances of the same server.

what’s going on?

Which to keep?

I removed Preferences.xml and re-generated it this morning. Then nothing came back. You can remove the newest one as I restored my old Prefernces.xml which starts with 8609a8523c785e2989af3193

confirming –

Remove 8906..... ?

keep the 8609a, remove the 7CE04…

:+1:

BRB with the results

Server completely (HARD) removed.

Please refresh all players.

Start the server.

Let’s see how it behaves with the right credentials and ID numbers

maybe a dumb question…Please refresh all players? Logout of all my players? even the ones shared with family?

No… Restart dedicated apps or CTRL-F5 for the web browsers

thank you.

Plex is back up and running. I’ll watch it tonight/tomorrow (the past few days app.plex.tv, dies later in the night 9ish pm EST)

Thanks again!!

Glad I could help.

It happened again at 9:11pm EST
I was using Edge Chrome when I got this.

I see it.

Client got lost & it went down.

Weirdest thing I’ve seen. NEVER saw a client socket close trash a host.

After restart, players screaming for data with expected ‘404’ errors because old sessions were purged.
