Hi- plex has randomly stopped scanning metadata for series seasons and episodes (not the show itself). Everything now ends up listed as “episode one” without a name and most importantly, without an air date- so the shows dont end up in the “recently released” column.
If I go and manually refresh the metadata for that show, it shows up as normal. But it won’t automatically as the content is added.
I’m using the standard plex TV series and scanner and I have “preferred local metadata” turned off.
I’ve tried refreshing the library metadata a few times, and deleted the plex database to start new. Only option left is to delete the entire thing and start over which I’m really hoping to avoid. Any guidance or help would be very appreciated.
This is a strange one, my metadata loads after a manual scan. Which is intentional, as the server was too busy with auto Scans. I don’t seem to have your issue on a Intel iMac 2020 with recently added.
With the errors in logs it looks like it is timing out.
I would try using a different DNS like 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1
Yea it’s a weird one and recent issue. Started last month or so.
I’m not sure I’m following RE: 10 episodes. I assume your referring to mayor Kingstown, there are 10 but even if an episode is added early, and there’s no episode title- it would simply say ‘episode 10’ but the air date would be populated (bc it’s in the tvdb). Then when the episode title was when it was documented in tvdb and populate it during scan.
I am actually using Cloudflare dns as my primary. It’s set from the router but that’s what it’s using.
It’s weird, plex simply isnt adding metadata beneath the show level. Seasons, episodes etc are being ignored/missed. I haven’t even read of someone within a similar issue.
mounting drives with a different protocol and using a a different user (who also has read/write permissions). I know this makes zero sense but im throwing anything at the wall at this point.
Deleting the database and starting a new one from scratch.
and finally this morning I went scorched earth and cleared out plex entirely leaving no original settings. Brand new.
Amazingly it still didnt fix it. Totally stumped but I dont know that there’s anything else I can do at this point. It’s frustrating as hell, totally open to suggestions. Thanks guys,
I was thinking about doing that. Testing another TV library and see if the same thing occurred. Per the other thread this topic it seems like there might be a fix in place (or being worked on). So far recent episodes have been OK since yesterday, I still have other series that haven’t been tagged (or tags haven’t been reapplied) but Im assuming a refresh will fix that.
If not, I’ll definitely test out a new library and see what happens. With tv metadata seemingly starting to work again, I’m having more pressing issues that I’m trying to resolve.
The recently added movie issue is driving me nuts so I’m desperately trying to find a resolution. Thanks a lot for jumping in trying to help.
