Long time user of Plex with music library of roughly 3,000 FLAC files, 3,000 Movies/TV Shows, etc. For some reason Plex isn’t recognizing any newly added music albums as of yesterday. I’ve restarted computer, etc. and refreshed my libraries, but nothing has solved the problem. What could be the problem and more importantly, how do I fix? I’m using an 18TB RAID 5 OWC setup that’s worked fine for years now. Also, I have another audiophile music service called ROON that’s pointing to the same music library and it’s seeing the newly added albums no problem, so not sure what’s Plex’s problem. Can anyone provide any direction?
Did the permission for Plex Media Server get removed in Settings>Privacy & Security> Files and Folders (removable or network volumes) or Full Disk Access
Sorry for my ignorance, but where would I check that? I’m looking in my Plex settings but don’t specifically see the thread you mention.
Also looking in Apple’s Security & Privacy settings but don’t see anything there… to answer original question, I didn’t make any security/disk access changes recently.
it would be in either of these places. settings may look different depending on which version of MacOS you have
Thanks for the help. I’m on a Late 2015 iMac so running Monterey 12.7.1. Not sure how this would’ve been changed since I didn’t do anything, but your direction helped me to give full disk access (screenshot below). As directed I restarted Plex but still not seeing newly added albums that are in my music library, but maybe it takes some time?
Also, under the “Files and Folders” section, Plex Media Server did indeed already have access, so still confused by this…
Then I would look at the Plex Media Server.log or Plex Media Scanner.log after a scan so see if there are any errors. Do a search for the folder or drive name in the logs to find lines where it is scanning or refreshing metadata
