Plex keep sleeping?

Hi,

Not sure what’s happening but after about two hours of no activity, Plex would go to “sleep” or lose connection… When I try to watch a movie, Plex would show “No Content.” I go down each movie category, I see the wheel spinning and it would then display “No Content.” Only after I log back into the Nuc, Plex would then wake up and show all the movies again.

The sleep mode on my Windows 10 Nuc is disabled. So the NUC is always on. So this shouldn’t be happening.

Does anyone have any idea on how I can fix this?

Thanks.

Anyone?

Are the media files on the nucs internal drive or a external/network drive? If so is the drive possibly going to sleep?

Are you running Plex as a service?

Go into the network adaptor and turn off the allow sleep.

Device manager > Network Adaptors
right click the adaptor and click Properties
under power management untick “allow the computer to turn off device to save power”

The media files are on a NAS. They’re not in the nuc. The NAS does go to sleep too but wakes up when I log into the nuc.

I’m not sure if I’m running Plex as a service or not. How can I tell?

Power management unticked. I’ll let you know if this works.

Results are in. It didn’t work. Plex still went to sleep after a couple of hours. This is such a weird problem.

If you don’t know, you are not. it is a special way to install with third party tools. it allows the server to run even when not logged into a user on Windows.

Yeah I just install the software the normal way.
