Plex Keeps buffering while watching on firestick 4k

i can access the firestick and the server side by side , do i need to post any info from the server computer as well??
@leelynds it was finicky on the apple tv plex app as well and not playing on the plex web as well… to see if it helps

No, but you may need to get to a server setting at some point.
You first need more details, and ironically, the FireTV Old Player is the best place to get 'em.

i will try to follow the steps you mentioned and post the details immediately, hoping that will help

I doubt that x265 video play on Plex Web without transcoding, the 5.1 audio would need to be converted to stereo in most cases, and then there’s the subtitles… I know as much about apple devices as I know about Firesticks - I walk past them to the Roku section at Walmart

the selected subtitles require transcoding to maintain their appearance is the message

Yep… image based subtitles do NOT Direct Play on FireTV.

Go to:
https://subscene.com/
and try to find some .srt - UTF-8 plain text - subs
or
Click ‘More’/‘Search’ when at the sub selection - to see if Plex can find any suitable subs at opensubtitles
or
run the ones you have through Subtitle Edit’s OCR process
or
don’t turn on subs (let’s hope not activating them returns Direct Play).

the subtitles of the 1080p file are not separate they are embedded i guess, i dont see any separate files in the folder. Is there a way to fix this with the subtitles given by the file?

Not activating them is giving direct play.

have you tried using the ‘subtitles on demand’ ?

yes i have tried that and also the top 5 so far didnt match, i will try but the probablity is less as the first ones are not in sync with the video

https://subscene.com/subtitles/lost-first-season

from your other thread, I see the 720p versions have srt subtitles. Copy one of those into the 1080p folder, give it the same name as the 1080p file and see if that works.

Lost S01E01 [1080p].mkv
Lost S01E01 [1080p].eng.srt (the “eng” is optional, identifies the language)

If they are in sync, you can practice your skills with MKVToolNix, and get rid of the bad subs and add the new ones, so you don’t have to select which set of subtitles you want to use.

Some new issue popped up all of a sudden just now … I have the new player turned off as I continued watching 3 seasons and now this error .

Resolution or bitrate exceeds maximum allowed
Nothing changed … Not sure on fire stick if Plex got updated

@JuiceWSA

Sorry - no can do 4K.

likely because of this.

Is it because of the update something is messed up on the fire devices ? It’s a 1080p file .

it’s “probably” because the (broken) update also defaults maximum h264 level to 1, you can go into the plex settings and increase that or disable it, and that would get you by until they fix the update.

edit: yes, on the fire device. change the settings on the fire device and that might help you.

That’s ‘Handy’.
