Plex keeps "configuring" and remains unstable

Server Version#: 1.18.3.2156

Player Version#:] 1.18.3.2156

My NAS runs just fine, but the PLEX App continues to “configure” endlessly most of the time. It will “stop” and i’ll have to manually “restart” it and occasionally, PLEX will work. However, it has only done so for 30 minutes or so before crashing and repeating the process. I’ve tried restarting the NAS, uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times, but it continues to act up. Does anyone have any solutions?

Having the exact same issue with an F5
getting totally sick and tired of terramaster now the software is going from bad to worse

My TerraMaster just received a PLEX update and now I’m facing the exact same issue! I was actually testing if my previous issue was fixed and now a new one pops up…
Contacted the support team, I will post here when they reply.

Hi

Ok so I received a reply from the TerraMaster support team and here is what they said:

Hi Robbie,
Sorry to know that.
Is it ok to have a remote session one more time? You can send your credentials as yesterday. Thank you.

While they were swift to reply and more than willing to help, I fixed the issue using another, less convenient method.

Here are the steps I performed to fix my issue:

  1. Backup your user settings(so you don’t have to re-setup your IP address, Power Settings, Date & Time, etc). To do this:
  • Login to your TerraMaster NAS

  • Go to Control Panel

  • Under General Settings go to Update & Recovery

  • Click on Backup & Restore and make sure the Back up system configuration option is selected and click on Apply

  • Type in your user account password and click on Confirm

  1. Restore to Factory Default: (This WILL NOT delete your movies and/or TV Shows, only the configuration)
  • Go to Update & Recovery as shown in step 1

  • Click on Restore to Factory Default

  • Check the box and click on Apply

  • The NAS will reboot and reset all settings

  1. Use the TNAS PC program that can be downloaded here to search for the new IP address for the NAS device and log in.

  2. Once logged in, set up your NAS again and install the latest firmware from the TerraMaster website.

  3. Go to Backup & Restore again and browse for your config backup in the Restore system configuration section. Your device will reboot once more, so log in with the IP address you used to log in with when you initially made the backup.

  4. Log in and download the Plex Media Server application

  5. Set up PLEX from scratch and enjoy!

As I said, this is not the ideal solution, but at least it works without any issues.

Please feel free to share if this method worked for any of you or if you have another working method, otherwise, you can just email TerraMaster support.

Did you have raid on there and if so did you lose your data?

@Spider0311 I had RA|D1 configured and did not lose any data

I’m having the issue now. Tried the steps above and still no go.
TOS Version 4.1.24
Plex 1.19.2.2737

After doing the factory reset on the F4-220, I was finally able to get it Plex reinstalled but it is stuck “Configuring…, please wait!”. Uninstalled/Reinstalled Plex a few more times still no luck.

I’m having the exact same issue. I done a factory reset 2 times on the F4-220 and reinstalled Plex 1.19 several times. Still Configuing… Please Wait message.

I even went from TOS Version 4.1.27 back to 4.1.24 to see if that would help. No luck.

No such luck. When you attempt “Start” it goes to configuring and back to stopped. No “Add to Desktop” shows, either, so the only entry is via “Start”, and it doesn’t.

Here’s what I just received from Terramaster support. Following these 7 steps fixed my problem.
