Plex keeps "configuring" and remains unstable

Hi

Ok so I received a reply from the TerraMaster support team and here is what they said:

Hi Robbie,
Sorry to know that.
Is it ok to have a remote session one more time? You can send your credentials as yesterday. Thank you.

While they were swift to reply and more than willing to help, I fixed the issue using another, less convenient method.

Here are the steps I performed to fix my issue:

  1. Backup your user settings(so you don’t have to re-setup your IP address, Power Settings, Date & Time, etc). To do this:
  • Login to your TerraMaster NAS

  • Go to Control Panel

  • Under General Settings go to Update & Recovery

  • Click on Backup & Restore and make sure the Back up system configuration option is selected and click on Apply

  • Type in your user account password and click on Confirm

  1. Restore to Factory Default: (This WILL NOT delete your movies and/or TV Shows, only the configuration)
  • Go to Update & Recovery as shown in step 1

  • Click on Restore to Factory Default

  • Check the box and click on Apply

  • The NAS will reboot and reset all settings

  1. Use the TNAS PC program that can be downloaded here to search for the new IP address for the NAS device and log in.

  2. Once logged in, set up your NAS again and install the latest firmware from the TerraMaster website.

  3. Go to Backup & Restore again and browse for your config backup in the Restore system configuration section. Your device will reboot once more, so log in with the IP address you used to log in with when you initially made the backup.

  4. Log in and download the Plex Media Server application

  5. Set up PLEX from scratch and enjoy!

As I said, this is not the ideal solution, but at least it works without any issues.

Please feel free to share if this method worked for any of you or if you have another working method, otherwise, you can just email TerraMaster support.
