Plex keeps crashing on TiVo Bolt when starting a movie.

Everything else plays fine… tvshows and music work great. Plex movies play on other devices like iPads or browser, but when starting a movie on TiVo, the app crashes and goes back to the TiVo Central screen.

You would have to provide more information about resolution, file types and how the files are being converted for a detailed answer.

That said, try optimizing the movie to 1080P 5MPS. It has always worked for me when I have this issue on my Bolt. Don’t have a 4K TV so I can’t help if that’s the quality you’re looking for.

  • It’s formatted as a 720p 4mps m4v file
  • playing it on a 1080p TV.
  • Video - Local Quality - Original
  • Allow Direct Play / Stream - Checked.
  • Audio - Dolby - checked
  • Volume Boost - none

Issue is only when accessing or playing the file. Meta Data is viewable for all movies, but when clicking to play it crashes and takes me back to the Tivo Central screen where I have to reload the app again.

I have the same problem. My TiVo and PMS are on the same network. Most of the videos I am playing are H.264 Lvl4 w/ AAC audio. I read another thread that talked about disabling Direct Stream to fix this. However, that didn’t work for me.

I just purchased a brand new TiVo Bolt and tried to play a movie, same issue… the Plex app on the TiVo keeps crashing even on the new TiVo device! :frowning: How do we escalate this to Support?

Movie playing originally worked on the Bolt which I owned for 4 weeks. But after 4 weeks, the app started to crash and required reloading and / or signing in again. I thought this issue would be isolated to my particular Bolt, so I purchased another Bolt to test it, and even the second Bolt has the same crash issue! Please update the Plex app on the TiVo Bolt!

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!
