I think I found it on my NAS, but I cant find them on my computer
ok, I think I found both. they are both on 255.255.255.0
Netmask is something like 255.255.255.0 thatās perfect.
the IP will be 192.168.x.x e.g 192.168.0.x
or 10.x.x.x
or 172.17.x.x -> 172.31.x.x
ip for nas is 192.168.1.18
ip for computer is 192.168.1.19
Ok⦠this should be a very simple thing to do. If it doesnāt work, weāll dig deeper (soft reset of the ownership of the NAS to your Plex account ā trivial)
Open http://192.168.1.18:32400/web
It should load the web client.
nope. tried that. tried again using your link⦠still just keeps loading and loadingā¦
just keeps looking for servers
it opens plex. shows my account, but just cant find the NAS
Ok, that tells me what we need to do next.
- Stop PMS in package center
- Control Panel - Shared Folders - Plex - EDIT - Permissions - Give your username R/W
- Open FileStation - Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server
- Rename Preferences.xml Preferences.xml.old
- Start PMS
- Open the IP of the NAS again.
- It will have you sign in (it has no identity as this point)
- It will then start the first-run setup wizard. This is normal & expected.
- Proceed through it normally with one exception DO NOT CREATE NEW LIBRARIES Skip this step
- Continue through normally, setting what you want until you get to Finish
- Youāll arrive at the Dashboard and your Libraries will be there waiting for you
- Settings - Server
- Go through all the settings again. Some might have changed. Please verify and set them again.
- Save Changes
- Done
BINGO!!!
Worked like a charm! Thank you so much! Was killing me!
(although, not as much as last time I spoke to you!)
I am getting more an more used to this forum⦠and beginning to appreciate it more! Thanks again Chuck!!
wait!
one more issue!
it says I cannot access remotely⦠is this a question for Synology or do you know how I can change this?
also, I cant seem to claim the server/NAS??
Remote Access. Thatās your modem.
If it behaves well with UPNP, it magically works as it should.
if not, you create a Manual Port forwarding rule (you pick the external port number), forward it to port 32400 of your NAS (by IP) and then tell PMS to use that port āManually specify portā
Claiming.
Stop PMS.
Control panel - Terminal & SNMP - enable SSH service
Now ssh (putty or whatever) as user admin and specify the password.
sudo -su root and youāll get the root prompt (sh-4.3#)
at this point, itās trivial
chown -R plex:users /volume1/Plex
Start PMS
If still issue, sign your browser out (itās being funky), clear recent cache if needed, and sign back into your plex account. (some browsers are āless than intelligentā haha)
thanks again chuck, you have been awesome!
Might I make a request?
Might I get some reprieve in the thread title?
so I donāt know what the ssh/putty thing is and where the āadminā and password come inā¦
and yes, can I change the name? I willā¦
Windows systems use the Putty app (Iām told) itās the SSH program that runs there.
In all linux environments, ssh is available at the command line.
when I try to port forward, it asks me if I want telnet, fts, etc⦠what do I put?
I have no idea what the putty app is? do I download it from my Synology? or my computer?
