Plex Lag on QNAP TVS-1282

Server Version#: 4.135.1
Player Version#:
<If providing server logs please do NOT turn on verbose logging, only debug logging should be enabled>

I’m hoping to get some help here. I recently replaced my Synology Nas that crashed with a QNAP TVS-1282 and recovering my data from backups. I’ve noticed a lot more lag when playing videos from the plex app on Roku. Often a video will also buffer and many times quit retrying to a point where the video has to be restarted. It seems to continue playing eventually but sometimes I’m forced to reboot the NAS to improve the experience. I just rebooted the device tonight due to Plex not showing anything available.

I did just enable logs upon reboot so I’m guessing there isn’t much data to look at right now but let me know if there is something else I should be doing in order to get this worked out. Also, if someone could point me in the right direction on the best way to post the logs once I have some real data in there.

What you should do –

Confirm DEBUG server loging is enabled
Recreate the problem

After recreating it, let the server quiesce then download the logs from under Troubleshooting

Attach the ZIP it gives you here.

I’ll look

Plex Media Server Logs_2024-08-04_23-20-52.zip (2.6 MB)
Here you go. Since I started the thread (while rebooting the server), it hung up several times and completely stopped. While trying to get it restart on the Roku, I connected from my Android phone. It buffered several times but then played for another hour or so without issue until I turned it off.

  1. If it’s hanging … ALL STOP. This needs to be resolved. An i7-7700 does not just ‘hang’. Did you do the upgrade to the 7700T or did it come that way(custom order) ?

  2. 5.1.8 firmware ? — Do you really need it?
    5.1.7.2770 is known stable.

I agree that it should not be hanging. This was a used device that you helped me pick out. I even followed your advice regarding storage. That’s why this makes no sense to me.

As for version, I probably upgraded hoping to fix the problem.
