Plex, lg web os and raspbian - SRT Skipping senteces

Hi, hello everybody.
first of all i’m really sorry for my very bad english. I will try to explain in the best way I can.

I have a minor issue with my configuration. Everything works fine but when i use .srt to load external subtitle some sentences wouldn’t show. it’s skip randomly some sentences and goes to the next. everything works fine, no buffering, no delaying but just this. it’s a minor issue but sometimes i can’t understand 100% of a scene cause it skips some important sentence. i hope u could help me. thanks a lot

Can you provide the srt file. Zip and drag in the reply window.

It happens with every .srt file i play with an mkv. yesterday it happened with a .srt embedded in a large mkv file (so i’m unable to unenmbed it send).

do u think it’s related just to a certain .srt?

You can extract the SRT from the MKV.

In my experience, this happens with SRTs which have ‘overlapping time stamps’. What this means is that some subtitle parsers can only show one subtitle line at once.

But some subtitles have several lines showing at once. Often this is just a bug in the software which created these SRT files. The lines overlap only by a few milliseconds in these cases.

But sometimes you also have subtitles which were converted from e.g. Vobsub or ASS, both of which do support showing several subtitle lines concurrently (and independently - sometimes seen in Anime when the title song lyrics are still running at the top, while some dialog lines are already shown at the bottom).

These subtitles need to be cleaned and the overlapping lines removed (or the timestamps adapted so they show one after another and not concurently anymore). There is software which can do it.

thanks a lot. i know that how i could unembed an srt from a mkv but now i can’t do it :).

btw, i thought it was a problem related to timestamp but with kodi i’ve never experienced such problems…
