Plex Library Not Displaying All Movie Content

Server Version#: 1.32.7.7621-7000
Player Version#: Browser

Now, here’s a strange one. I have installed Plex on a Synology DS923+. I have copied movies in .mp4 format to the Plex library/folder. Unfortunately, the web browser does not display all content in the library. Many are missing in the list. However, movies are in fact located in the library. When a search is performed for a specific movie not viewable in the library list, it is located in the Plex library. Of course, I would like to have all movies actually displayed in the Plex library without having to perform a search for a movie title that may not exist.

In addition, some of the movies in the Plex library appear to be duplicated. You will see the movie with all associated metadata but then there may be a second movie listed with the name of “1 movie.”

Any idea what may be going on? Thank you.

Do you have auto collections enabled in library settings and if so do you also have it set to hide items that are in a collection?

Thanks for the suggestion BigWheel. How do you disable collections? I only see the option to “show” or “hide” in the library. I have changed the config to “hide” but there is no change in status. The collections are still displayed. I can still search the library and it is found; but not listed in the library when scrolling through.

In the library settings Minimum automatic collection size is what you would want as “Disabled” to not create them.

Note that disabling will not delete any previously created collections, it will just not create new ones.

As a test, just change the sorting of your library from “by Title” to something else.
If you now see a different item count number at the top, you have titles which have been subsumed into a collection.
You can change the standard library behaviour, how to treat collections. One of them is to never do the subsumption.
