Plex Live TV & Picture-in-Picture (PIP)

I am using the laterst version of Plex on iOS v8.45 and have noticed for some times that some releases of the iOS app allow us to do PIP with the Plex provided Live Channels while other releases do not. This release does not.

I’ve also checked other apps to see if it is a rights-holder issue, but it doesn’t appear it is. It appears Plex is just not consistently deploying the release and features. It’s incredibly frustrating as I like to put on channels like Bloomberg while commuting and then review my emails.

Regardless of which is the correct way, the instability by Plex is just another concern on their attention to quality in the releases.

I have this issue with IPTV channels and local OTA channels as well. The whole LiveTV is now slow to load and lags or outright freezes. I can’t tune to channels at all because the app is frozen. Perhaps because it’s trying to live play the channel at the top of the guide? I don’t want it to start transcoding on my server unless I click the channel to play.

PIP is broken in general but really bad in LiveTV
