Plex Live TV with AVerMedia AVerTV Volar Hybrid Q (No channels found on scan)?

Hi everyone,

I am a Plex Pass subscriber, and bought the AVerMedia AVerTV Volar Hybrid Q. It is listed as a compatible device on the support page for Plex Live TV. When I go to Settings -> Sever -> DVR (Beta), it finds the device. However, when I scan for channels, it says “No channels found” and tells me to make sure that the antenna is plugged in. It is plugged in (Vansky Indoor Amplified HDTV Antenna 50 Mile Range with Detachable Amplifier Signal Booster) and I am able to scan for channels in the included AverMedia application that came with the AverTV Volar device. I get a ton of channels, with a great signal.

Any ideas on why it isn’t picking up channels in Plex?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Is there any kind of answer on this issue. I read the linked thread but still cannot figure out if there is any kind of resolution. I am having the same problem. The AverMedia AverTV Volar Hybrid Q is clearly listed as a compatible device but I cannot get it to work with DVR and Live TV. My tuner works just fine with the application included with the tuner.

FYI radam1976… I was dinking around and got it to work. Here is what I did:

  1. Uninstall the AverMedia app, using the uninstaller in the app itself (Start -> AverMedia -> Uninstall)
  2. Choose the top option, to uninstall the app, but not the drivers
  3. When complete, exit Plex Server, and open Task Manager and make sure all Plex “stuff” is no longer running (stop it if it is)
  4. Restart Plex Server, run DVR wizard, worked for me at that point.

Good luck.

So far I have tried a handful of things but still can not tune. I just bought the AVerTV Volar Hybrid Q, first installed only the drives because I researched the forums before I bought it. The unit is seen by plex, scans channels, brings in the Guide, but then give me errors that it can’t tune. I then installed the media software for the unit just to confirm it worked, tried plex with it still installed and the same problem. Now I am going through the whole process again because I saw there was a plugin still on the computer related to the AverMedia software. As a side not when I reboot my computer Plex completely loses the setup and things the device is unplugged. I now only have they USB TV Tuner installed. This all is very frustrating.

I also have problems with my AVerMedia USB tuner; my device is the H826 of 10 years ago. Very similar situation, Plex detects the presence of the tuner but it can not scan for any channels at all. Uninstalled the AverMedia software completely and then just installed the driver, still, no luck. Very frustrating. My only intension is to watch live TV on my mobile device when away from home. I am seriously consider to spend 100+ bucks on a Tablo or the AirTV box. This would make my life easier. As for the AVerMedia tuner, it works fine with its own software: it can record TV shows then have Plex to share it over the web. Why would it not work simply the two things together?

Sorry no solution.
Just the same problem with AverMedia USB M039 Hybrid

Maybe the problem is that we can not choose which tuner to use for
scanning? (digital versus analog)?

But I see that the scanning process is very fast.
The programs that actually scan take much mode time.
