I am unable to login to plex from my server PC. I can login from a laptop connected wirelessly to the same network. At first I thought my account was hacked or something so I changed the password, but then I found that I could not get to the login pages from my server and now I’ve left my server unclaimed. I’ve checked my IP settings and made sure they are the same as the laptop on the same network that can connect. I tried multiple browsers and incognito mode. I restarted my server and my modem. I changed my DNS assignments around. I tested HTTPS sites and I can get to every other one I’ve tried. I can’t login to plex or the plex forums from that computer.
Any ideas? I’ve had a plex server for years and I’m at a complete loss for what happened.
Just tried booting into safe mode as well (took some effort since it is normally headless) and any element that tries to load app.plex.tv fails to load. I tried a VPN too wondering if my IP got blacklisted or something, no change.
Everything is working here as expected.
There’s obviously an issue for you - some Debug Logs - NOT VERBOSE - would be the next logical step - along with someone to read them.
Is the local app - which might come up if the hosted version won’t.
I have no idea really, but it does seem like ‘elevated support’ is something you need right now:
@juiceWSA thank you. I was able to pull debug logs locally (and transfer them to a different computer because I can’t log into forums on that computer either). Here they are. I don’t know what good they will do because this problem doesn’t seem to be with the PMS itself since I should be able to log into my plex account and the forums without it even installed.
I suspect there is something about the network that is preventing parts of plex from loading, though I don’t know what because I changed nothing, this has worked for years, and other computers on the same network can access Plex Login. I’m baffled.
Trying a restore point. Next is reinstalling windows and rebuilding everything from scratch. If I do that and app.plex.tv still doesn’t load… god help me.
Restore point made no difference. Is there anything else I can try other than blowing away my windows install and starting from scratch? Why won’t this website load?
I managed to get my server tethered to my phone via USB and completely isolated from normal network. No change. Still won’t load anything that tries to connect to app.plex.tv.
I really wish there was support available. I’d pay for it at this point, despite already paying for lifetime plex pass. I’m beyond frustrated.
Turn on the web console and check for error’s/timeouts. If you can sign in from another computer, then I would think there is something on that specific computer causing the problem.
After I connected to my phone and disconnected the network, it still didn’t work. I rebooted and I could login, but couldn’t access the server locally anymore. I logged in, switched to a different NIC, then disconnected the phone and was able to reclaim the server. Then I rebooted again and set remote access back up. All seems well now.
Still a mystery to me why this happened or why this random group of actions fixed it.
Set server security to ‘Preferred’ not ‘Required’ or ‘Disabled’.
Set all clients to ‘Fallback to insecure on local network only’.
Not sure at all what happened, but those are the standard settings to use when a possibility of interent outage is high - or you wanna watch stuff while Plex.tv is AWOL (rare, but has happened - recently - more than once).
After making those settings you’ll probably want to reboot everything.
