Thanks in advance for any advice you may be able to offer. i have been running a plex media server on a windows 10 device for several years now, without problems. Yesterday I was unable to access the server from any of our other players (e.g. Samsung TV, Android Mobile, other browser on other computer). I discovered that I was unable to log in to my account on the Plex website with my credentials on the windows 10 server - it slowly loaded hte screen where I could select type of login (e.g. Google, Facebook or Email) but then it timed out when I tried to log in. I have tried to log in to my account on the Plex Website from other devices and it still works OK.
I therefore believe it needs to be something specific on the Windows 10 server device that is preventing me logging in (both the plex media server and through the plex website). I have tried turning off my antivirus, firewalls and any VPN’s on the windows 10 server device however still can’t log in.
I am having the same issue. I spent all yesterday trying to work it out and it still is giving problems. The strangest thing IMO is being unable to get into the plex website from the PMS device (I can get in everywhere else).
Ami me pasa lo mismo, y es la segunda vez ya, la otra vez lo solucione, borrando todo e instalando otra vez pero ahora no ahy manera es mas esque ahora me dice que tengo que solicitar el servidor.
Thanks for the suggestion but I can confirm that I have tried multiple browsers, as well as in private/incognito mode without any luck. Agree that the strangest thing is not being able to log in to my Plex account on the website from the PMS device. Account is still active and working from all other devices
@OttoKerner I turned off add blocker and removed my pihole from my network. Reset the network so the PMS device had a direct link with the router and the issue persisted.
A user in another tread @vinhtvo mentioned that they ran a clean install of Windows and that fixed the problem for them.
I am holding out hope that I will not have to do that for now.
Plex accessible on all machines on my network except the host machine itself. I disassociated my server as a test, and am unable to claim it back as I cant log into Plex on the server.
Will wait a while before having to reinstall windows.
As has been pointed out, there are a number of similar recent forum posts on this issue. In one of the others, a forum member suggested checking the hosts file:
When I opened up the hosts file with Notepad++ in administrator mode as suggested I found that there were many references to plex (e.g. my.plexapp.com) followed by the tag “#Added by VPN Bypass”. When I removed these from the hosts file and saved it, the problem was fixed. My server logged in again, and I was able to access my plex.tv account from a browser on the PMS Windows 10 computer.
A long time ago I used a script created by a forum member to assist me with issues with accessing my plex server remotely whilst using a vpn on my PMS. It was this one:
I assume that this wrote some rules into the host file which is now causing validation/verification issues with Plex. Strange that this has happened all of a sudden but very happy to have a fix now. Thanks to all who have provided help on this.
Exact thing for me. I cant believe I didnt check the hosts file earlier and completely forgot about the VPN bypass for PIA (I dont even use PIA any more). Solved for me.
