Plex losing subtitle while playing

Same issue, since the last server update, no auto adjust quality enabled, happens to both english and foreign subtitles for the same video file, changing back and forth (or on and off) brings them back for 10-30 seconds then they disappear again. It looks like it is really triggered by resuming / continuing to watch or jumping in an episode, if none of the above happens, most of the time I’m able to watch it fine. Subtitle and its format is flawless, it happens to subtitles I was able to use in the past without any trouble.

I and a few users have also run in to this on server version 1.9.2.4285 with Plex Web version 3.21.2. SRT subtitles work for a short while and then disappear completely.

The only work around i’ve found is to set the subtitle burn in setting to Always. However, this does trigger a transcode and isn’t really ideal.

upgraded to version 1.9.3.4290, same issue.

Having the same issue of losing subs, on both Windows and my Roku. This is very frustrating, I hope they find a fix soon.

i can confirm the same issue. Downgraded back to 1.8 and subs seem to be working again…

Once the subtitles stop playing, if you seek to a new position in the playback, does that fix the issue ?

I think this problem begun in version 1.9.1 or 1.9.2 already. It affects me as well. I finally now downgraded to 1.8.4.4249 meanwhile, which is unaffected. The bug requires me to restart what I’m watching ever 2 - 5 minutes on average. Some videos unaffected, some break constantly. No issue on said 1.8.4.

Downgrading was a ■■■■■ since Plex for some reason does not offer older versions for download, but at least on Windows the earlier automatic update installers can be found from %LocalAppData%\Plex Media Server\Updates

Same issue’s here… After a few minutes the subtitles disapear.
On my kodi I don;t have that problem (kodi on tv1, plex on tv2)

I can confirm the issue is not present in server version: 1.8.4.4249

issue happened for me right after i upgraded to PMS 1.9.2.4285.

i uninstalled PMS and reinstalled 1.8.1.4139. problem is gone.

Can confirm this is happening to me as well. Didn’t realize it was due to the upgrade but will try to downgrade for now.
