Plex losing subtitle while playing

I can confirm that it’s on every playback both tv and film. If I turn them off and then on again it stays there for 1-5 mins then I have to redo the process again.

1.9.7 has also problem with subtitle??

Same problem here! 1.9.7.4460.

Plex Media Server Beta Release 1.10.0.4516 has just been released which includes a fix that hopefully should resolve this issue

See Release Notice http://forums.plex.tv/discussion/comment/1563954/#Comment_1563954

  • (Transcoder) Fixed soft subs not appearing in some cases (#7597)

1.10.0.4516: still losing subtitles, now after about 40 minutes… and back to 1.9.6 for me… again…

This is starting to be seriously annoying, 90% of my media has subtitles, and i can’t enjoy the new plex pass server features since i’m stuck at version 1.8.4 which was the last version working half-decently for me.

I can confirm that the situation is the same on my end as well. No change, still dropping subs…

Any chance of logs please for 1.10.0.4516 ? with debug logging enabled and with info as to what was being streamed and to what device and when the subs disappeared

Thanks

Really? Look two posts up…

Plex server osx 1.10.0.4516. I confirm that it still loses the subtitles. Very annoying. Why can’t we access priori versions to downgrade ? I won’t continue my pass and pay for a half working app

I just mailed them and asked for a refund of my fairly new bought life time sub… The careless they have shown regards this issue, they dont lay ANY energy into solving this

Let us know what they say, I was just made aware of the inability to turn off Plex News and the lack of correct subtitle support. Not so sure how I feel about buying the Lifetime pass anymore

I just got my money back, I urge EVERYONE else to do the same, maybe they would take this issue serious

One time they have a problem with this. It´s a bug, bugs come with programming. Since it´s only ONE person that have supplied a log file or the bug it´s kinda hard to do some real research on the problem. Stop whining over money and appreciate the hard work that´s behind this.

FFS dude. its not everlasting. If it such a problem for you then revert back to an build before the bug and stop complaining on the internet.

I have to agree at least in part with AndenIDK. While I’m keeping my membership, the problems with subtitles and/or videos stopping before the end have been going on sinds SEPTEMBER !!! These are far from trivial issues with little-used functions, and hardly difficult to reproduce, as they affect e.g. (AFAIK) everybody using Chrome Web Player on Windows.

And while it’s understandable that regression occur in Beta builds, it is unacceptable that such basic features are broken in public releases. It clearly indicates a lack of proper quality control, which is made worse by the inability to revert to previous (official or not) releases unless the user kept a copy somewhere. Why can’t we get older builds on the Plex website ? I had to resort to getting some from unreliable sources… but now I’m keeping a copy of each new build from the official source just in case.

I wish the devs would focus more on getting the basic stuff to work correctly than on new features (such as the DVR – which only a minority of users can use at all in the first place, due to hardware, legal and regional requirements).

Thanks for the logs. I am looking at the playback at 14:29 of Star Trek DS9 - s03e04 - Equilibrium.avi on chromecast
Did the subtitles appear and then disappear later?
Is the issue on more than one plex client app ? or just chromecast?
