Plex Matching TV Episodes Incorrectly - Making One File Into Two Episodes In Error

I am in the process of uploading The Office (US) to my server. So far I have uploaded seasons 1-3 with no issues. Season 4 is being problematic. Once all my episode files were in the folder for the season, Plex matched The first 4 episode titles into 2 episodes each. For example, it matches the file “The Office (US) - s04e01 - Fun Run.mp4” into Fun Run (1) <–Episode 1 and Episode 2 --> Fun Run (2). There are 14 episodes in the season. So 14 episodes show up, but the titles are mismatched and the last 4 titles are cut off because of all the duplicates of the first four episodes. Additionally, it seems the problem is just in the titles alone. For instance, Fun Run (1) and Fun Run (2) are not linked in any way. Fun Run (2) is simply the second episode of the season, and to confirm, I can click on “get info” for Fun Run (2) and the file path is: * G:\TV Shows for Plex\The Office (US)\Season 04\The Office (US) - s04e02 - Dunder Mifflin Infinity.m4v .

Since these episodes were being added in one at a time, I tried removing them from the server folder. Then I scanned library files, cleared bundles, optimized library, and scanned library files again. Then I added all the episodes back in, scanned library once more and the same issue came back. Notably, the first 4 episodes are about twice as long as the rest of the episodes of the season, but there have been episodes in previous seasons that did not trigger this issue. I’d also note that each episode file has a single episode number and a single title so no single file contains more than one episode or a partial episode- simply one episode per file.

Any help appreciated.

Server Version#: Version 1.21.0.3616

You’re having issues because of how these episodes are over at TVDB.

You can try switching everything over to DVD order, but I’ve had issues with that on this series for some reason.

To try DVD order, you’ll need to edit at the series level, go to advanced and pick DVD order for episode ordering.

To get it to work as is, you need to rename some of those episodes to multi-episode files.

Works like a charm, thanks for the thorough answer.
