So I have a bunch of Mp4 files which are videos I have taken on my phone which import and play fine. I have them ordered in such a way that they display as seasons and they are picked up and show fine in Plex player navigation so the files are there BUT my issue is that some have the title of Episode 1 or Episode 2 for example then others use the title from the metadata of the file.
I have checked that the ones which it is not working on have the meta data there and they do. Character count does not seem to be an issue nor any permissions as they are in the same directory and have the same permissions on each file. The format, resolution, bitrate, framerate everything seems to be the same but still for some reason some of the files just dont display the title.
My agent is clearly working as it does work for some but not others, the library is setup correctly or else it would be all of them which are not working.
Is there a bug perhaps? Or am i just doing something wrong? Maybe there is a trick to this?
What tool are you using to set/verify the embedded metadata on your files?
Will Plex pick your metadata if you trigger the „Refresh Metadata“ action from the show‘s context menu?
I have tried setting it manually and I have also used mp3tag to set the metadata. I have confirmed it within mp3tag and windows properties window.
I have tried the meta data refresh too but it did not work unfortunately, i even completely recreated the library but still the same issue occurs sadly.
The metadata which shows through windows properties is the file metadata, I have also confirmed this by changing the title field on one of the files which was working and that was reflected in plex so I know that for sure is the correct field which it is reading. Bit of a mystery this one!
