While the Plex for Mac app installs and runs without problems, the latest Plex Media Player application might be unsigned in some fashion, because I get a few errors from Gatekeeper, saying it can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software, and that the developers need to update the application. I realize that I can whitelist the app in Gatekeeper, but I’d rather report on how a default Catalina install behaves in case this was an oversight.
That only happened to me once after whitelisting PMP.
I’ve been using it since then on my MacBook.
Did you try to start it again or scan your console log for Plex?
If PMP started up partway, it would leave a log file behind.
Anything in ~/Library/Logs/Plex Media Player/ by any chance?
Thanks for the heads up. We’re working on a PMP update that will include addressing Catalina’s requirements. Till then PMP should open if you right click, select Open, then enter admin credentials if asked.
