Asustor Model: AS6204T
ADM: 4.0.0.RMD2
BIOS: 2.16
Plex Media Player 2.35.1.986.r1
This has been working well for playing media files off my NAS drive to a TV connected via its HDMI interface. Since upgrading to ADM 4.0, the Plex Media Player is greyed out in App Central and when I try to start it the following error pops up…
“This action cannot be completed because there is already a plexmp2 folder inside the Web shared folder. Please first remove or rename the folder before trying this action again.”
The underlying Plex Media Server version is 1.24.4.5081-e362dc1ee and this is still working when I connect using a web browser client via local network or remotely.
I can’t locate a “plexmp2” folder to take the advised action shown in the pop up message. Can you suggest a way to fix this issue or point me to a different forum where I could ask for help? Also, is there a later version of Plex Media Player available?
Happy holidays everyone.
This may be a cry for help for a similar problem that I still have not resolved. Any ideas on how to get Plex Media Player to work under ADM 4.0 on my ASUSTOR AS6204?
Regards,
Chris
I reported this to ASUSTOR Support just this week after I upgraded to ADM 4.0.1, I have the same issues. I was able to locate 2 folders that had plexmp2 and deleted them, uninstalled both the Plex Media Player and Server, rebooted the NAS and re-installed manually a previous plex server version and also media player and got the same symptoms. If Plex support can help us properly uninstall/reset Plex and ensure a fresh install is done that will help. I re-installed he Plex server and it seemed to pickup everything without me even specifying my login details so it did not uninstall properly. Perhaps also Plex support can provide us with a new Plex Media Player that is compatible with the x86 apk ? That could help.
Plex Media Player was never officially supported on anything else than Windows or Mac.
What ever Plex player software was available for direct installation on your NAS devices must have been prepared by a third party. But not by Plex Inc.
