Server Version#: latest ubuntu server version
Player Version#: latest media player version
Hello guys,
I have Plex Server installed on a ubuntu machine and several Plex Media Player clients in my home infrastructure.
On one of them (windows 10, latest PMP), when i start a playback of any movie, the video has hiccups at each 2-3 seconds. I have reinstalled the PMP, tried different transcoding settings, played with the quality, nothing helps.
On the same device, Plex Web player works just fine even at full quality.
I have to mention the computer has an wifi connection and not a cable one, although it does not matter, i tested and all is fine. Also other players (kodi, vlc, etc) can play same videos from my network, just fine.
I also have another host, also windows 10 with the same PMP, same settings in the player, and that one is working ok.
So what can i check on the faulty device in order to tshoot these hiccups?
I’ve been experiencing this for at least a year on multiple PCs. I have just resorted to using the web player.
I’m NOT on wifi. My whole LAN is gigabit. The same files play fine in the web and other stand alone players but skip constantly in PMP and Plex for Windows. I know my PC is strong enough too it’s an i9 9900k, 32GB RAM with a 1080ti. It’s also not specific to my server. I’ve migrated my Plex server(ubuntu server) to newer better hardware recently and the problem still happens. Using shared servers also shows the same issue.
Here I am trying to diagnose stuttering issues and looks like it’s affecting everyone. Wish they would fix this. Seriously looking for another solution at this point.
