Since upgrading to the 2.23.0.920 version of plex media player last week on the Mac Mini I use in my entertainment centre, there is a very annoying glitch in the ‘TV Layout’ mode (which I used all the time along with the Apple Remote before this happened). If I move from the Home category at the top to another category such as Shows or Movies, the screen begins to populate and then just goes blank (although the blurred multicoloured background remains). PMP no longer responds to the Apple Remote and the only way out that I have found is to use the mouse or keyboard to quit PMP and re-launch it.
This happens every time, so I can only watch content if I navigate to it through the On Deck or Recently Added sections of the Home category, or if I switch back to the standard layout.
As a test, I installed the same version of PMP on a Windows 10 machine and I experience the same behaviour in TV Layout as I do on the Mac.
oops, I should have added this before hitting send. I’m posting here hoping for a fix, but also it would be helpful if anybody knows how to download a prior release of PMP.
Hi @cretin86. Thanks for reporting this bug. Do you mind replicating the issue and sending over the generated logs? It would go a long towards helping us pin down exactly what’s broken.
No problem - I’m not in front of the Mac right now, but as I mentioned I also get the same results on Windows 10 version (starting with this release as well) so I replicated the problem and I’ve also uploaded the log file. PlexMediaPlayer.log (38.5 KB)
I launched PMP at 16:24:00, selected my username and entered my home user PIN, and then at 16:24:30 I pressed the right arrow key to move over from the Home view to the Shows view. A few seconds later everything but the blurred background disappeared from the window and I had to close it (at 16:24:45).
…which isn’t the case, as I was getting content shown on the Home view, and it worked perfectly in version 2.22, and it works perfectly if I switch to regular mode instead of TV Layout mode…
Great - I updated to the 2.24 release and the problem is resolved on the Mac! Haven’t tried it on the Windows version of PMP but I trust there’s a common cause and it’s probably resolved there, too. Thanks so much!
