Plex Media player will not recognize Plex Server

It’s frustrating that since the email went out and I followed the instructions Plex has become unuseable.

I have changed my password 5 times in the last week and after all that I can sign into Plex, both on my browser and the standalone Plex app… BUT the Plex front end will not make connection to the plex server and I cannot see my saved media (on drives H: and I:). this is happening ever since I saw the email from Plex (on the 8th of September) to change my password.
All I get from the Plex Home screen is a listing on the left under the Plex menu with my icon and Your Media. Once I click on Your Media I get taken to the “Add your media to Plex” screen and a button to “Get Plex Media Server”, Although the Plex Media Server IS installed properly.

Currently installed…
Windows 11 Pro Build 26100.ge_release.240331-1435
Plex Media Server 1.42.10060-4e8b05daf-x86_64
Plex Media Player 2.29.1.961-bb236059-windows-x64

When is there going to be a patch to fix this problem?

Yup…I found this helpful post a couple of minutes ago…

https://support.plex.tv/articles/204281528-why-am-i-locked-out-of-server-settings-and-how-do-i-get-in/

And was able to follow the steps in the registry to regain all my media.

In short…bring up registry editor and go to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Plex, Inc.\Plex Media Server

  1. Highlight the following entries and delete them:

    • PlexOnlineHome (Was not in my registry)

    • PlexOnlineMail

    • PlexOnlineToken

    • PlexOnlineUsername

restart Plex Media Server and I am good to go after reestablishing (reclaiming) the server and my Media Files.
