i’m a new user and i can’t get the plex media player to work. i use windows 10
i have no idea what server version is or how to locate it.
i’ve tried switching to older versions with no success, i’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling.
i can’t figure out how to get it to even start. besides clicking open.
this whole thing is just gonna be a great big waist of money if i can’t even get the plex player to start.
please help
You should be able to click on the start button and search Plex Media Server
Click that and you will see the plex logo in the bottom right tray near the PC clock. If you see the logo start and then go away then the app is crashing and you will have to post log files which can be found by reading this article: Plex Media Server Logs | Plex Support
If the logo appears and stays then you should head over to this article and read how to connect 
i have the icon, just can’t get the plex media server to start. i click on it and nothing happens.
Did you actually install the Plex Media Server software, or did you only install “Plex” (for Windows)?
Do you want to stream your own media files or do you just want to watch the free movies offered by Plex?

i downloaded both. i want to stream my movies and tv shows. the PLEX works but i have yet to figure out how to add to my library. it doesn’t even have a library category to choose from. but that was gonna my next project to work on. just trying to get things to work for now. the Media Player doesn’t do anything when i click on it. nothing appears on my screen.
Where do you have the icon?
In your start menu or in the task tray?
i have one in the bottom right corner. i also have it pinned in my start menu.
The server does not do anything visually when you launch it except show icon on bottom right. It is a background app that is meant to be always running.
Like accessing your router, you access it’s management interface primarily through a web browser. If this the the first time accessing it and it is installed on that same computer go to, http://127.0.01:32400/web in your browser and tell us what you see (take a screenshot if easier)

now to my next project, figure out how to add movies. don’t see anything about library, download or add library so i’m probably missing a step somewhere.
well i’m back to this again. i’ve downloaded, uninstalled and re installed numerous times. i want to be able to create my own library. i don’t get the option.
Why does it say “paused” on the top right? Do you have chrome removing cookies every time you sign in?
