Server Version#: 1.20.2.3370-b1b651549
Running paid Plex Pass server on Windows 8.1. Been working forever until…
In the last couple weeks, I wake up to a pop-up message on my Windows server that the Plex Media scanner has crashed. Everything seems to keep working when I close the dialog box, but it happens every morning nevertheless.
Any suggestions on how or why? Could it be a file of mine, or perhaps a recent Windows update?
Anyone know how to troubleshoot this?
Roll back to the previous version. Un-install the current problem version from “Add/Remove Programs” in Control Panel. Then go to “©:\PlexAppData\Plex Media Server\Updates\” and drill down through to install the most previous recent version package version. I too had the Plex Media Scanner crash upon updating to 3402, and did the above steps to roll back to 3252.

OK thank you! I’m glad it wasn’t just me.
There was an update today to Plex so I’m going to let it roll and see what happens tomorrow morning.
Please let me know if your new 1.20.3.3401 works without PMS (Windows) just randomly not responding and crashing, and Plex Media Scanner.exe not crashing during scheduled maintenance window. I am stable on 1.20.2.3252, but had the above problems on 1.20.2.3402

Please verify whether any of the causes listed on this page may be responsible: https://support.plex.tv/articles/206910047-windows-repeated-crashes-of-plex-media-server/
and if you find one, try the mitigation steps from this page.
Otherwise, please enable debug logging (but not ‘Verbose’)
restart the server
then fetch the crash dump and the server logs when the next crash occurs
I woke up this morning and the same crash message was on my Plex server. I’ll check out those steps Otto. Thanks.
Here are all my logs. If anyone can tell why it crashes during maintenance, much appreciated!
I removed my logs since there was no replies. I don’t want them hanging out there.
The crashes are still happening every night, even after multiple updates. How can I get official support on this?
Is there no formal avenue with the Plex gurus to identify my specific problem?
deleted. I found the problematic files through trial and error.
