Server Version#: Netgear ReadyNAS 214 Firmware 6.10.8
Player Version#: 1.32.0.6918-6f393eda1 - April 6, 2023
Hi,
I have been happily running Plex Media Server from my ReadyNAS RN214 for a year or so but suddenly the Plex server app will not initialise at all. I have reinstalled it a couple of times. Each time i first launch in a web page it i get error ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED
After this first time i try and launch the app, it turns itself off within the ReadyNAS GUI and then refuses to turn back on again giving the following message:
“Application failed to Initialize. Please update or contact developer.”
Any suggestions on how to get Plex Server back up and running would be most appreciated.
I have the firmware and apps up to date:
Whilst my Plex App is down, everything else on the Readynas is working fine.
UPDATE 15th April 2023 - Plex app will also not uninstall (Remove). Tried multiple time to remove Plex app but still appears on the Installed Apps page but remains turned off. Reinstalling plex app also makes no difference. It seems that Plex support is a bit non-existent on this issue as seen on other post with the same issue.
Finally resolved but by iteslf. I suspect that it was network address issue as i am running 2 routers (BT Smart Hub 2 → connected to → Netgear Orbi} working as double Nat? configuration which, i understand, is not ideal. My ReadyNas RN214 is connected via ethernet cable to the Orbi router.
I have had to shut the main power to the house a couple of times recently which may have caused a change to the network addresses for the server… maybe? I had to re-claim my server as mine when Plex located it on my network
I did also read somwhere that the app sometimes fails to inialize as it thinks Plex is still running. This is because there is a file left behind which should have been removed last time the app closed.
After updating to the the latest beta version of the server and restarting my NAS, I am now able to turn on the Plex server and it stays on… so far so good.
