Plex Media Server and Desktop won't connect

I am not too tech savy. I will do my best to relay the information as accurately as possible. My windows recently crashed and failed. I had to do a big reset where it deleted all my apps and preferences but kept my files. So I went to re-download the PMS. Once I finshed the download and open PMS it just takes me to a grey page that says plex. My serve will not log in at all. I have tried deleting PMS and reintalling it. Same thing happens. I can log in on my desktop but it doesn’t even regonidze the server. I tried a few thing, somehow in the many things I tried from other posts, I have got the server to log in. However if I try and claim it, I get the same grey screen that just says plex. I am not sure what to do.

I am on windows 10.

This should sort it out: Why am I locked out of Server Settings and how do I get in? | Plex Support

Those options aren’t even available for me to remove. The options in the registry editor are Default, AnonymousMachineIdentifier, MachineIdentifier, Metric Epoch, OldestPreviousVersion, ProcessedMachineIdentifier That is it.

Someone had previously recommended this Uninstall Plex Media Server | Plex Support

I did that, and all I got was the grey Plex page.

Also when I did what someone else suggested in the link I posted, I couldn’t even log into my server anymore.

Are you using a VPN? Disable it.

How many browser add-ins are activated in your web browser?
Disable them all, use a “incognito”/“privacy” browser tab.

You are awesome. That worked. I didn’t have a VPN but I had a few browser add-ins. I disabled them and logged in on incognito. It worked. Thank you so much.

Once you have the server connected to your plex.tv account, you can re-activate those add-ins one by one until you find the culprit. Then you can create an exception for plex in its preferences (which it hopefully provides).
