Plex Media Server - ASUSTOR AS5304T - server won't open?

Plex Server Version#:1.21.1.3766
ASUSTOR ADM Version #: 3.5.3.RBH1

Hi all - I updated both my NAS ADM version and Plex Server version yesterday, whilst also upgrading to Plex Pass, adding some family member accounts and adding a username to my admin account - so a few things all at once!

But now, I can’t access the Plex Media Server installed on my NAS if I open the Asustor NAS gui - im getting a ‘Safari can’t open page because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection…’ But I can still play back media via any other means : either desktop (Mac) Plex player, Nvidia shield, mobile device, another family member direct via Plex website.

Ive rebooted NAS / laptop multiple times - no change.

So the paths for playback are all open, but now suddenly I can’t access the server from my NAS.

Being a techie noob, have I caused this via one of the original actions listed above, or is there a different issue (and resolution) here?

Thanks,
Duncan.

The issue remains. Can anyone help?

Just uninstalled and reinstalled PMS on the NAS. No change - issue remains :frowning:

Any comment, from anyone, at all?

I just upgraded my AS6404T to ADM v3.5.5.RFC3 and Plex Media Server no longer runs. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling and nothing seems to work. I click on the icon and then the browser page spins forever. I was running PMS 1.21.1.3820 before the upgrade. Have tried both 1.21.4.4079 and 1.22.1.4228. Same results. Have deleted the /Plex/Library folder and have attempting to reinstall both. Same results. W

Did you ever resolve?

Same issue. Plex working no issue I then upgraded to 1.22.1.4228 and sever won’t load and can’t be found

Resolved:

So I SSHed over to the SAN and looked at the processes:

root@AS6404T:/volume1/.@root # ps | grep plex
6237 root 0:24 /usr/local/AppCentral/plexmediaserver/Plex Media Server
10952 root 0:00 grep plex

Starting and stopping the service through the ADM still did not resolve the problem. So I tried killing the process manually:

root@AS6404T:/volume1/.@plugins/AppCentral/plexmediaserver # kill -9 6237

I couldn’t figure out how to start PMS from the terminal, so I went to the ADM. Even though it showed it running, I slid the toggle to turn it off. Then I slid the toggle to turn it on. Now when I look at the processes I see much more:

root@AS6404T:/volume1/.@plugins/AppCentral/plexmediaserver # ps | grep plex

Everything seems happy now.

Plex Media Server now starts with no problem after subsequent NAS reboots.

Hi mgraves_acog_org and a4dy1986 - I saw your updates yesterday and spent last night looking again with fresh eyes for a solution, but unsuccessfully so far.

Great that mgraves_acog_org has a resolution, thank you! Ill attempt the steps myself later and feed back success / further issues.

Thanks all!
