Looks like you’re using the Smasung TV‘s stock video player and connect to the server through DLNA.
How that player displays the content presented through DLNA is outside the control of Plex.
Any chance you can run/install the Plex player for Samsung on that TV?
My original feedback wasn’t aimed at disabling DLNA. If you need that for some connection on a device which doesn’t support a native Plex app… that’s perfectly fine.
However, your initial post was asking why there’s no Plex menu / thumbnails… make sure you use the Plex player. Not the native video app of your TV to achieve that.
VLC on my PC displays cover art for movies and TV shows (I don’t have a Samsung TV). However, the navigation folders (Video, Music, etc.) are basic icons.
If you want the full Plex look and feel (menu structure, posters, etc.) you will need to use the Plex app on the Samsung or use a streaming stick/box connected to the TV.
I’ve tried via the app and it took 2m 10s to load with the Plex logo and then went blank. I gave up waiting after another 3 minutes.
I seems that I must be content with waiting for Plex to appear as a source and then using the basic icons.
On the other minor point, since the last upgrade of Plex the setting for Automatic Login and selecting the 24 hour clock, are still not locking although it says changes saved it reverts to automatic login being off and the 12 hour clock.. Anyone else had this?
