Dear all,
I’m puzzled. A couple of days ago, everything was working fine as usual with plex. Last night, however, when I tried to open Plex Server, it flashed a couple of times in the menu bar, and…and that was it. Any ideas on what’s happening and, of far more importance, what I can do to get back to the way things used to be?
Cheers, in advance,
Gav
Can you try to kick it off again and try to manually collect the log and post it here?
https://support.plex.tv/articles/200250417-plex-media-server-log-files/
Nope, it would appear not. I tried, but the icon flashes once, or maybe twice, and that’s it. I can’t seem to log anything. Open to suggestions, mind!
As far as I can grasp, I need to be able to get the server up and running (so to speak) in order to grab a log file of some sort. Am I correct in thinking this?
It should write to the file and hopefully report some error on start which might point us in some direction if you can manually grab the file from the directory.
OK, I’m there…in theory. But, I’m not sure how to achieve that in practice. Any chance of some instruction?!
Hang on, I think I managed to get some sort of log…fingers crossed…Plex log.rtf.zip (2.1 KB)
did you collect this from here?
What you attached looks more like some settings files as opposed to logs…
Oh. Knackers. Hang on, I’ll have another bash…
Plex logs 2nd time.zip (11.1 KB)
Hope that helps!
That is better!
I see this in the logs:

Ill have to see if I can find someone who might have better knowledge of this but can you access the internet from this machine?
Is there something else bound to port 32400 on your system that would cause a conflict with this app?
Well, I’m accessing the internet now, so…that’s that dealt with. As regards the port 3400 - no idea. I know that, to the best of my knowledge nothing has changed in the last couple of days, but, then again…the computer might have changed something without my knowledge. The trouble is that I don’t know where to check these things…any ideas?
Hi, go to spotlight and request ( Network Utility)
Add you Computer LAN IP in port scan, test ports 32400 to 32400
Computer IP found in system Preferences/ Network
Reply with results if port is open
Well. I followed your instructions, and…got this:
Port Scan has started…
Port Scanning host: 192.168.0.109
Port Scan has completed…
That, as if I need say, means nothing to me! Any ideas?!
Nothing mentioned about: TCP port 32400 open
If that’s correct, you can not communicate with Plex and have a Firewall issue or router issue.
Aha. God alone knows how that came about…certainly I’m not aware of changing anything. Any ideas on how I can reverse the situation?
Do you know how to log into your modem?
Well, I did, that’s what I’m trying to do now, but it’s been a while!
I’m in! Success! Now…what?!
