Plex Media Server Crashing when iPad Transcode Initiated

Server Version#: 1.19.1.2645
Player Version#: 6.10.1

Hello, I’ve recently created a Plex server on my 2018 Mac mini and performance has been solid with hardware transcoding enabled. I have one user attempting to do a remote transcoded stream on his iPad, and it crashes my server.

Additionally, he can’t seem to reliably stream from his home network on iPad, Fire Stick, or LG smart TV. Not sure why.

The crash this morning occurred around 9:13am. Prior to the crash, I was noticing a lot of system performance issues. For example, opening the console in Mac OS took nearly a minute to complete. This is true of any app I attempted to open.

Perhaps unrelated, but I’ve also noticed my IP Cam NVR software (security spy) is having trouble streaming to my iOS apps. I am not sure if its possible Plex and Security Spy are competing for processes/resources, leading to the locking up I’ve observed in both applications.

This issue is intermittent. Some days everything works as designed while others are more problematic. It does seem correlated between these two video streaming tasks.

I am getting the following in console:
[FFMPEG] - Try -allow_sw 1. The hardware encoder may be busy, or not supported.
