Plex Media Server doe not show setup page

Server Version#: 1.26.2.5797-5bd057d2b
Player Version#: Roku

Hi,
I installed a brand new Plex Media Server in Ubuntu Server 20.04.
After Plex Server setup and when loading through the web browser and login to my online plex account, the setup page does not show and so I’m not able to setup my local libraries.
Can you please, help.

Thank you,

@jullus

If you’re setting up on the machine (your console is on the machine where PMS runs),
use http://127.0.0.1:32400/web

If you and the server are on your same home subnet (which is RFC-1918 compliant),
then you can use the server’s LAN address … e.g. http://192.168.0.x:32400/web
(valid addresses are: 192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, and 172.16.x.x → 172.31.x.x)

Signing on through Plex.tv won’t give you the setup wizard you need because the server isn’t attached to your account yet.

Hi @ChuckPa,

Thank you so much for the help here, much appreciated.

What I did:

I deployed a Ubuntu desktop in the same Vlan where my Ubuntu server (hosting Plex Media Server) and then go through the initial Plex setup.

This time after login I was prompted with the Plex first-time setup page where I could add my local media libraries.

I believe the initial Plex setup page does not load when we are loading the page from a different network because the VLAN is not authorized.

Once again thank you for the tip I will definitely keep it in my Plex setup notes.

Warm regards,
Jullus

PMS makes the distinction between “Local” (same numeric subnet/mask) and “Remote” (anything not “Local” or using an unknown FQDN).

It won’t let you claim it when anything but local (the security to protect your server should it ever become signed-out and unclaimed)
