Hello,
I went back to using an older PC (not a laptop), and the Plex web interface prompted me to update my Plex Media Server.
Before that, I came across a database optimization feature, which I decided to run. I’m not sure if it had any impact afterward, but I thought it might be a good idea since there had been a lot of additions and deletions in the past.
So, I decided to update my server from version v1.28.2.6151-914ddd2b3 - Microsoft PC x64 - build: windows-x86 to the latest version offered: v1.42.2.10156-f737b826c.
I let the update run for about an hour, and when I came back, the Plex server still hadn’t restarted.
I tried running the executable again after first closing everything related to Plex in the Task Manager, but nothing happened. I then found the update installer and ran a repair, followed by a reboot, but the Plex server still won’t start.
I’m not really sure what to do at this point — do you have any idea what might be wrong?
Before attempting the repair, I made a copy of my Plex Media Server data folder to preserve my configuration, in case I need to restore it after a fresh installation.
Do you think restoring that backup could help bring the server back online?
Here are the update logs; apparently, PMS (Plex Media Server) isn’t able to start, but I’m not sure if that’s actually the cause.
