The stable version prior to 1.18.1.1973 had a REALLY NASTY bug.
Although Plex had always a problem with its scanning capabilities, which often did not recognize für days that there are new media files although the configuration is set to autorecognize changes to the media directories, it became even worse.
Suddenly the Plex Media Scanner did infinite child processes, wasting almost all cpu time and did increase the load of the system infinite until the system did not respond anymore.
Also when scanning, the Media Scanner had sudenly EXTREME problems with Music Files. Commonly stucked at some point and never continued.
ONLY way to stop this attitude was to shell to the QNAP and kill the Plex Media Scanner process by hand, oft enough i had to kill the server process as well.
When i just wanted to post this pretty good monitored behavour i did get the notification for a new version. Im gonna try it out, but the first expression and the changelog are not promising.
When i did start the new version 1.18.1.1973 Plex did not scan, still did not recognize new media files for itself. Again, i had to trigger it manually which is NOT the idea.
I will report if 1.18.1.1973 may have at least lost again the ugly and devastating freezing capabilities. Personal i have to say that with its time and over the dozens of versions Plex Media Server for QNAP has been become MORE UNSTABLE and LESS RELIABLE. Not good for a piece of software which i pay for every month. Hope your quality control and dev teams is going to become more focussed on bughunting before introducing new features.
best regards
Simon
