Plex Media Server hangs on setup in New mac

I just downloaded the PMS install for my macbook air running 10.14.6. I installed it, moved it to applications folder, ran it. It took me to Plex web, I logged in and then brought me to the Explanation splash window, then to Plex server setup window. There is no place to type the name of the Server, I double-clicked the Name and the Next button starts to show a turning icon and it hangs. What am I doing wrong? I ahve a screen shot but no place to upload it

Native support for Apple’s M1 chips are VERY new. I’d find any PC laptop and run it off that instead.

I hope you know Mojave 10.14.6 was not a Apple silicon software release.

This Mac is a 2014. I was originally on an old Macbook pro but the OS has aged out. What does M1 chip have to do with anything?

What does that have to do with my difficulties?

I was not pointing out anything to yourself, just RepubliCommando.

Have you tried the latest release to see if that resolves your issue

Ah, understand thanks.

As to newest, yes, I did use the newest version. someone else noted the same problem as well, and was able to post pics.

I do not see a paperclip to upload images, would you please tell how this is done?

Just drag a pic (jpg) into the body of the reply

Thanks

Misread the message - thanks

SE56, you were kind enough to help me on another issue back in '19. Perhaps you could help me here? I deleted the PMS file, re-downloaded, installed and got the same issue.

This seems to be a problem with the 1.29.2 ish release. Short answer is go to a previous version or the latest beta version. There’s a lot of info on the forums if you search. Here seems to be some good info:

Good Luck!

Chris

Chris, I looked hi, low and in between and could not find that answer. I really appreciate your help. I downloaded 1.28 and Voila! 1.30 was the hanging judge. You have strengthened my faith in Plexmanity.

Glad to help! It can be a pretty bleak situation when your Plex doesn’t work!

Have a good evening!

Chris
