PMS 1.29.1.6316-f4cdfea9c setup hangs on macOS 10.14.6 Mojave (Mac Mini 2018)

Server Version#: 1.29.1.6316-f4cdfea9c (beta)
Player Version#: 4.87.2
hardware: Mac Mini 2018 x64 i7 16 GB
macOS: 10.14.6 (18G9323) - released Jul 2019, last update Jul 2021, nick is Mojave

Summary

On a Mac during PMS Setup, infinite spinner at the Naming step.

Steps to reproduce

  • Fully uninstall any previous PMS
  • Empty trash, clear All Time Safari History
  • Reboot the Mini
  • Double click 1.29.1.6316-f4cdfea9c PMS app in /Applications
  • Solve the complaint it’s not signed and run it again (System Prefs → Secuity & Privacy)
  • Safari opens
  • Sign-in to Plex
  • Give it your user PIN if in a Plex Home.
  • Setup starts to 127.0.0.1:32400
  • I click the GOT IT! button.
  • On the next page I can’t enter the Name,
    • and if I click Next then Setup hangs where the word Next is replaced by an infinite spinner.

This has been happening with many PMS in the 1.29 branch in older macOS.
I think the general forum consensus is that 1.29 requires macOS >= 11.0 atm.
I think the forum reports have been that 1.29.1 is working on macOS >= 11.0 at this time,
but macOS less than that can experience this.

Incognito mode makes no difference. Folks have tested Chrome, Firefox, Opera.

Thanks for your time. The Plex team is the best. :100:

Nope. The minimum requirement is macOS 10.11. There is a bug I am looking into where the server is unable to retrieve the preferences.

Thanks I could tell that was poorly stated but didn’t manage to do any better.
I’ve corrected it now I hope.
