Certain folders on a drive used for the plex server hard drives are incorrectly cataloged. For instance I have 4 files from a single year of a TV series and it might get one correct and not find the other 3. Sometimes it gets 1 correct and another entry is from a different folder from a different series. I copied the contents of the folder using the windows explorer into a different (new folder and the copied contents have the same error as the original folder. I copied the contents of the folder to a new hard drive with a different folder name and I get a new set of files and mistakes. I get for example 2 files correct with the other 2 missing (of the original 4). I used the various update library and meta data commands but it does absolutely nothing. Pretty sone I am going to abandon Plex if this goes un-corrected. Any ideas of what I could try or what I am missing would be greatly appreciated since my requests directly to Plex have gone unanswered.
Gonna have to agree with perplexity, unless you can provide more details 99.9% of these cases are file naming/organizational issues.
I have seen this article and for the most part follow the recommended procedure. I have 11 folders under Vera. They all follow the same naming convention. The video files also follow a common naming convention. The issue turned out to be that plex didn’t like the version of the .mkv format. I found different videos and it works fine now.
That doesn’t mean anything if it’s the wrong convention.
If it’s not too big, I’d like one such file for debugging.
