Plex can't see anything inside a folder

Not too happy there’s not a proper tech support email - but anyway.

I’ve been a LONG term Plex user and Plex pass subscriber. And up until now I’ve never had this problem. But it suddenly appeared about a week ago.

For full context :

I had a 5TB hard drive pack up so I had to rebuild everything on a new hard drive. My second hard drive (I had multiple hard drives with media) was fine.

Both hard drives were structured the same way. A folder for films and a folder for TV shows in the root and everything categorised neatly in there.

Suddenly, when I had to rebuild, Plex would not recognise folders on EITHER disc, even the one that was fine, when managing the library. If I put the movies straight into the root folder it would see each individual movie folder (if that’s making sense) but not the actual “Films” Folder or the “TV” folder.

I then had a separate issue with my Mac where I installed an app for work which created instability. So I had to reinstall my Mac. And now I can add the movies to Plex which are straight in the root of the second drive, but not anything from the first drive (as they are in folders named “films” and “TV” so Plex can’t see them). And it can’t recognise TV shows at all as they are in a folder as well.

There is NOTHING wrong with the permissions at all, I’ve checked them. There is nothing wrong with the hard drives either because I can see them in finder.

So what can I do? Does anyone have a fix? If not is there a way to find an old version of Plex server to download as I am convinced this has happened since an update.

I’d really appreciate some advice. I live in a country away from home so rely on Plex - it’s my only source for media. And my 82 year old dad at home relies on my server too.

Due to how long you have been a Plex user you will be impacted by the new agents for Movies and TV. The naming of folders and files are much more critical now and what worked in the past may not work now.

I have discovered that entering the folder paths manually into plex works fine - even if using the automatic function they still don’t show.

So it is CLEARLY a bug.

It’s not, but lets say it is. Logs and a Screenshot of the add folders to library screen.

@norwichred lets start with one folder, can you perform a scan, post your server logs, and a screenshot of some of the files? That will allow us to take a look at what is going on. Just because there isn’t a support email doesn’t mean you wont get help.
