Plex Media Server stopped working awaiting update.
applied update but the server is just gone.
how do I get the server back?
P.S. NAS smb stopped working at about the same due to firmware update - was trying to verify PMS was OK when I found it was gone - not sure if this is related.
Go into the settings on the server on the Nvidia shield. It may have stopped after the update. Just turn it back on go out and back in to verify it’s running. Then check to see if can see the server again.
apparently PMS got completely reset with the update. made me restart from scratch. this is very annoying. why would an update lose everything?
working now but kind of hesitant to put any more work into it…
Ive never had issues just updating the Plex Server but did lose all my info when i did an OS update from Nvidia. I took a chance on the latest update and had no issues. Not sure if they fixed it or that I found a developer option to download the entire update than just the partial and that caused me not to have the issue again.

now I cannot repopulate the server because the NAS smb is broken…
family has stopped asking what happened to Plex. personally I do not use it anymore. Kodi works better for watching movies (plus I can get to the NAS via NFS). Google Live TV does as good or better for watching and recording OTA. may be time to give it up.
Check Nvidia shield settings/Storage & Reset/Mount Network Storage and see if your NAS shows as Connected. If not select Remount All shares. If that doesn’t work, check the SMB setting in your NAS. Heard may need to switch it to SMB 1
thanks for your input but SMB guest access failure is a known problem after a specific firmware update from QNAP. many others are experiencing the same problem.

And, for some reason, Shield has a bug when I try to mount as registered user - found my NAS121695 listed under Mount network storage. Selected to mount it. Selected “Connect as registered user”. Tried to enter username. But the keypad disappears after selecting the first key. It is impossible to enter a username or password. Might work with a keyboard but that does not help right now.
One solution would be for Plex to support NFS on the Shield. Kodi can access NAS just fine via NFS.
