Plex Media Server is logged into the wrong account

Hi everyone. I’m new to this and I am lost though I think I found my issue. I’ve been searching around for a few days and cannot find a previous post to help me so sorry if this is a repeat.

I created a free plex account months ago and installed plex media server on my windows 10 pro machine and never actually used it. Just on sunday I paid my subscription and clicked the thing to open plex and logged in and it just sat there saying searching for server.
After much searching on the forums and FAQ and Support Articles I made my way into the plex windows registry and there is a different email in one of the values than am using for my subscribed account so i’m guessing that my media server is logging in with the wrong information somehow. So i have uninstalled and reinstalled and no luck. the registry entry does not change. I don’t want to just go editing it because I don’t want to screw something up.

So, anyone have a solution? I can’t figure out how to log out of the plex media server on my windows 10 machine.

I figured out the solution. For anyone else that may end up with this problem here is what you have to do. Go to plex.tv and log out of your account. Now in windows click the plex icon and click open plex. when it asks you to log in, use the logon information for the wrong account(the one associated with the server). Hopefully this will allow you to see your server. Now you can click on the server and click log out. Now log out of the plex account and log back in under the correct account. Now you should be able to claim the unclaimed server.
