My Plex media server isn't recognized by my account

I recently created a new plex account and installed the Plex Media Server but when I log into my account, it doesn’t seem to notice that the server is installed. When I click “Your Media” it only tells me to download the plex media server even though I already did. How do I get my account to recognize the Plex Media Server that I downloaded?

I should also mention that I checked in the settings and the server does not appear under authorized devices. I’m reading online that there should be a server option in the settings to set that up but it doesn’t exist for me.

If you had the server already installed on the same machine and used it with the old account, then you first have to untie the server from the old account.
Then you can claim it into the new account.
