Not to fear.
What you’re probably seeing is the apps remembering (pinned) to where they were before.
They decided to do that so, when you come back to watching something, you’re back on the same server you were before instead of needing to fumble around and get back to where you where when you last stopped. The one situation it can’t handle (nor can it know) is if the saved server is simply offline or has been deleted.
Knowing that, let’s delete the old entry Plex has for the now-defunct installation on the Synology.
- Make sure PMS is stopped on the Syno
- Open the web browser
- Click Settings (upper right) - Authorized Devices (upper left)
- in the right pane, it will show you everything. Let’s filter that.
- Click the dropdown and select “Server”
- Now you will see ever server, regardless how old, even if duplicate name, still in your Plex acount.
- By clicking the “X” , followed by “Remove”, you can remove all the old & unused entries.
- When you’re done, sign out of the web app (click your avatar - upper right, sign out)
- Start PMS in Package Center on the Syno
- In your browser, now open the Synology by LAN IP (10.x.x.x, 172.16.x.x - 172.31.x.x , or 192.168.x.x)
- You should be greeted by the ‘Sign in’, ‘Got it’ and ‘Found a new server’ messages (the setup wizard).
Since you last tried to set this up, I’ve created a How-To for the Synology.
If anything I’ve written is unclear, please ask.
