Plex Media Server Logs_2024-02-24_05-31-06.zip (5.0 MB)
My computer running Plex Media Server keeps crashing and I am forced to reboot the computer.
I recently reset the entire computer (HP Omen 25L) back to factory state with a complete hard drive wipe. The computer ran for a week without a single crash. I installed Plex Media Server yesterday and only scanned the Movies on my QNAP server. This is a new computer (Nov 2023). I ran my old computer for almost 10 years before it died without any issue like this so I assume it is not my network or qnap. I have no clue what to do next. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you. Rob
There is no evidence of the Plex Media Server process raising any exception or crash
I can see logging to the server log stopped at Feb 23, 2024 20:49:49 and a re-launch of Plex Media Server was made at Feb 23, 2024 21:18:02
Did Windows crash just after 20:49:49?
Anything in the Event Viewer System and Application event logs that has any indication of a windows shutdown / crash ?
You could send me by Private Message zips of copies of the Application and System Event logs - zips of save as evtx files
The logs you provided were captured at Feb 24, 2024 05:31 am - so what times was the crash ? Was it 20:49?
If you have the registry setting outlined here Crash Logs: Plex Media Server | Plex Support then if the Plex Media Server crashes, we would get full dump in this folder
C:\Users\gman9\AppData\Local\CrashDumps
In the absence of that, the Plex Media Server crash reporting is invoked - but there is no evidence of that happening - so wondering if it is Windows that is crashing?
I have the same problem
computer crash after plex media server starts transcoder
Server Version#: Version 1.40.0.7998
Plex Media Server.1.zip (1.1 MB)
So is windows crashing ?
Could you get me zip of the Windows Application and System logs (save all of System and Application event logs as evtx files and zip and send me the zip by Private Message
To do this, launch Event Viewer, select Windows Logs - expand and click on each of Application and System and for each Right Click and select “Save All Events As …” and save to a file type evtx. Zip the 2 files and send by PM.
Could I also have all the other Plex Media Server logs and not just the two you provided - please either let me have the standard logs zip produced by Plex Web through the Troubleshooting web interface or copy out all the logs and zip - do not zip in-situ as any open files would get skipped)
Also please search the C:\Users\vhrc9\AppData\Local\Temp folder for Plex Media Server .dmp files and associated log files (the logs here have same filename as the .dmp files and fileextension is .log) - please copy out these files, zip and send me by PM - the filenames are random hex digits
If windows is crashing, is there a bugcheck related memory.dmp ?
Any non standard setup ? eg overclocked processors ?
I don´t have a non standard setup, memory.dmp size is 610MB on .rar i’m uploading to onedrive, i send in a PM the other logs,
Today at 2:10am after Plex Media Scanner crash, windows also crashed
Halow.
Same issue I started thread 3 days ago with logs.
Turn credit detection to online only or completely off solves the issue for me.
Turning off credit detection has worked for me. We have 1-2 people running videos non stop since and zero issues. Any idea what the issue is? Is this something plex will fix.
I also noticed Halow on that thread state no issues after turning this setting off.
Thanks very much for the post.
I get nothing in my plex logs in debug mode that point to the issue. I think it’s related to particular files but can’t determine the culprit without debugging information.
They will need logs and crash dumps to figure it out.
It’s happening to enough people now that hardware shouldn’t still be blamed.
I have reproduced the intro detection issue where we were logging circa 5000 errors a second when processing episode 8 of True Blood series and I have referred that to the development team. The transcoder failed with windows error code 69 which is ERROR_TOO_MANY_SESS (The network BIOS session limit was exceeded.)
I will next look into the credit detection failure.
