Plex Media Server -- Live TV DVR Library to use for Recordings?

Server Version#: 1.14.1.5488

Q: How do I configure Live TV / DVR to use a specific library to store recordings?

I want to have two “TV” libraires – Once for my own content (DVDs) and one for Live TV / DVR (recordings)

Thanks!

Add a new library and name it whatever you want and point it to where you want to store your recordings.
New library must be a TV type in order to show up as an option in the drop down.
When you select a show to record there is a drop down that is named “Add to Library”
Select this new library and your recordings will be stored in that location which is separate from your other content.

Is there a way to make the library choice a default?

I believe after you setup your first recording and tell it to use a specific library it will remember that setting for the media type i.e. TV or movie next time, so no real setting to select but try that and make sure it shows the same location after you record something.

Movies recorded from DVR will go to your default Movies library and again you can create your own separate one if you want for DVR Movies and it should remember that after the first go.

I see; Thank you  I’ll give it a go. I’ve just re-organized my libraries a bit and trying to keep “recorded” things separate from “imported from dvds”

Just realize that if you set a show you are recording to delete shows after watching or to only keep a certain number of shows. Those settings are for the show across all libraries not just the library you are setting for the recording to be stored. Other users have discovered this when the find shows from their DVD library were also removed.
