Why am I not the only one finding setting up the server frustratingly difficult. Followed the instructions, I come to an immediate dead end at step #1.
If technical support could reach out and give a simple detailed method that would be nice. If not, after my 3rd attempt at setting up PLEX, I just might have to pass.
Router: Huawei hg8245w5-6t (Bangkok, Thailand)
Following instructions: Checking Automatic Configuration: #1. If i hype in my IP address in my browser: Nothing happens. Immediate dead end.
I would rather not continue with the other options, at this point, because: 1. there are no specific instruction made by PLEX and 2. therefore are time consuming and 3. I don’t fully understand what Im doing, where to start really and afraid to make unnecessary changes to my computer(s) setup that may interfere with my online work/job.
If PLEX may please start me off with a specific direction/info regarding my router, then I may proceed.

Once you have downloaded the app, make sure you are on the same local network as the server. If both are on the same network, everything should work,”
So the question remains: how do I ensure/know I am on the same network. As far as I can tell, it should be on the same network. I running it from home. I have tried both: "Manually specify public port: 32400 and also entering my own IP. Both cases don’t work. At least not for more than 1 second.
My “Private IP” and “Manually specify public port” on the PLEX app Remote Access page are the same, but the access is denied after about 1 second.
Have you set up the manual port forwarding in your router? Here is more info on setting up remote access. Remote Access | Plex Support. There are links to a trouble shooting guide in there too if you have issues.
