Plex Media Server MIA after password reset

I have been runing Plex since Sept 15, 2021 when I purchased the lifetime pass because it worked so well. Well as of the recent password reset debatical, it no longer works AT ALL. I can’t find my server let alone my server logs. I have no idea what the things talking about getting tokens is talking about. I just want to watch my shows. I already know I have to migrate the Plex set up from Windows 10 to some form of Linux due to Windows 10 being rendered dead by Microsoft in October. I really didn’t need this nightmare on top of that nightmare. I tried getting help from Redit but they keep telling me to do what I’ve already explained that I’ve tried and it isn’t working. After days of total frustration I discovered Emby. Emby is lovely. It was super easy to install. It just works and it doesn’t have all the extra stuff that has been added to Plex over the last few years. I just discovered that it can also access my OTA local network TV channels! I think I’m about to give up entirely on Plex and just migrate to Emby.

I can download and install the Plex Media Server from the Plext website until I am blue in the face. Task manager says it is running but the Plex TV website doesn’t agree and urges me to download Plex Media Server. It’s a circular nightmare.

When I go to the Plex TV website under my acount there are absolutly NO SERVERS listed despite my having had a working server up until last week. There are no server logs (probably because there are no servers listed.) Starting a server from scratch is a pain but I already have all my media so I’m willing to do that but the sofware won’t even let me do that because it can’t find the freaking Plext Media server running on my PC! I try to do all my plex stuff on the same PC but prior to this nightmare I was able to occasionally log in from my other PC (Win 11 on the same home network) and it was able to do so sucessfully without a problem.

I log in now and see an avalanch of similar complaints but nothing official from Plex which makes me feel as if they don’t give a flying fig if their victims can log in and use their product or not! Since I paid for a Lifetime Pass I’d like to get this back up and running but in the interest of remaing as sane as possible I think I’ll just enjoy the ease of Emby for a week or two before diving back into fixing this mess.

Any suggestions for me?

I see no server to claim. I have zero idea what the last server was called. I’ve already tried claiming but without info that I simply do not have and can not find I can’t seem to do it. that and it isn’t helping my situation. I’d rather just start over from scratch with a brand new server and I have now done so with Emby. If I can’t resume use of Plex I’ll just stay with Emby I guess. I used Plex for relaxation and entertainment, not stress filled IT nightmares.

I have wiped my hard drive and reinstalled windows 10. I STILL can’t get plex to locate the installed and supposedly running server. There is absolutely nothing old to find on this machine now so why isn’t it allowing me to do a fresh start over install?

Then you have wiped your Plex server with it.

I wasn’t concerned with losing the old server. I now at long last have a new server running on my PC. My media collection isn’t large enough that rescanning it is a nightmare. I just needed to know how to get access to the new server and once that was explained, problem solved.
